Whereabouts

Whereabouts is a riso-printed animated short that follows a woman’s journey through New York City, unfolding through small, intimate moments. Gentle and reflective, the film captures the beauty in everyday life—passing faces, brief memories, and the tiny details we often overlook.

From sunrise to sunset, Whereabouts becomes an observation on presence, connection, and the quiet magic of simply moving through the world.

This film was made during my time at the RisoLAB Artist-in-Residence program, Spring 2025. Big thanks to everyone at the RisoLAB: Pan, Sarula, Aidan, and Sabii!

This is a personal project I made to animate a fun action sequence, and I liked the idea of conveying a memory. There are so many Korean traditions and folklore behind persimmons (감); it felt like the perfect vehicle for a project all about memories.

This is a series of animated segments I directed for the Grio and Weimar Pictures. This was a part of 'Byron Allen Presents Juneteenth', which provided in-depth portraits of Black entertainment icons. It was so fun designing and animating on this brief, and an honor to celebrate Dick Gregory’s excellence and activism. Huge thanks to Tomas Vallecillo for helping me bring this home!
